Guided by grown-ups
Parents and caregivers create the profiles and supervise the practice. That keeps the focus on shared, age-appropriate skill learning rather than independent online activity.
Offline, parent-guided life skill practice with progress for each child.
Privacy PolicySkillSteps is an offline Android application made for parents and caregivers guiding children through everyday life skills. The experience centers on learning profiles and individual progress, not on account creation. The application is provided by The Grocery Patch, LLC, and its core learning tools are designed to operate without internet access.
Parents and caregivers create the profiles and supervise the practice. That keeps the focus on shared, age-appropriate skill learning rather than independent online activity.
A child profile can include a name or nickname, age information and a chosen avatar. Separate profiles help adults review progress for the child they have selected.
SkillSteps records skill practice activities and whether they were completed or left unfinished. Families can return to a practice session without creating an online account.
Dates, achievements, practice outcomes and mastery records help show how practice has developed. The history is kept with the child’s local learning information.
The current version uses device-local storage and does not offer cloud synchronization. That means its core learning records are intended to stay with the Android device.
The policy describes practical records that support learning and progress tracking. It also makes clear which connected services and sensitive permissions are not part of the current implementation. These details matter when adults are deciding what information to enter for a child.
Names or nicknames, birth month and year or age details, and avatars organize each child’s learning space. Using a nickname where possible helps limit unnecessary personal information.
Completed and unfinished sessions, completion dates, and assisted or independent outcomes can be saved. These records support returning to activities and understanding practice patterns.
The app uses skill mastery information, practice history, learning statistics and achievements to present progress. These details support the experience within the app, rather than advertising profiles.
Room, built on SQLite, stores profiles, skill data, sessions and progress records. Android DataStore keeps application preferences and selected-profile information.
The current version does not include advertising, behavioral analytics or user-tracking functionality. It also does not need a cloud database or an external account provider.
The learning features are designed without access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, calls or SMS. The described version does not need the Android INTERNET permission.
Information begins with what a parent or caregiver chooses to add and what the application creates during practice. The policy describes how these local records support the experience, what is not transmitted to developer-operated servers, and how families can manage stored records. The sequence below follows the life of learning information on a device.
A caregiver enters the profile details needed to organize learning. A nickname can be used in place of a full name, and unnecessary sensitive details should be avoided.
The application records sessions, dates, outcomes and progress as skills are practiced. Preferences and onboarding completion are also stored to remember the app state.
Room and DataStore keep the described information in Android app-private storage. The current version has no online account storage or cloud sync.
Records are used for suggestions, continuing unfinished sessions, showing learning history, calculating mastery and remembering settings. They are not used for external advertising profiles.
Caregivers can edit profiles, delete a child profile or reset progress. Android application settings also provide a way to clear local application data.
The SkillSteps policy describes a deliberately offline version of the app. It does not promise that every device or operating system service is outside the picture. Instead, it distinguishes the app’s own handling of child learning records from independent Android and Google Play services.
Children do not need to make online accounts or give contact details to use the guided learning features. Caregivers remain responsible for supervising activities.
The current version does not intentionally send child profiles or practice history to servers run by The Grocery Patch, LLC. Information is intended to remain locally on the device.
The app does not sell or rent locally stored learning records or use them for targeted advertising. Information an adult emails to support is handled separately.
The described implementation does not integrate third-party advertising or analytics services. Google Play and the Android operating system may function independently under their own policies.
Android automatic backup and device-transfer backup are designed to be disabled for SkillSteps. Independent copies, screenshots and backups outside the app are not controlled by this setting.
Local records remain until deleted by the user or removed through Android application data management. Uninstalling ordinarily removes the app-private local data.
The privacy policy explains the practical controls available to parents and caregivers. Those choices apply to information stored by SkillSteps on the device. The policy also explains a distinction between deleting app data and managing independent copies outside the application.
Caregivers may create a profile using a nickname where possible. This allows everyday learning progress to be organized without entering more identifying information than is necessary.
Child profile information can be reviewed and modified through the profile management features. Adults can correct details when circumstances or needs change.
An individual child profile can be deleted. The policy states that its associated learning records are removed from the app’s local database.
A selected child’s progress can be reset without describing any online deletion process. The action concerns the local learning records managed within the app.
Android’s application settings can be used to remove locally stored application information. Uninstalling the application ordinarily also removes its app-private data.
The policy provides an email address for questions about privacy and local information. Information voluntarily emailed to support is separate from what the app stores locally.
Local storage reduces the need for learning records to travel across a network during core use, but it is not an absolute security guarantee. SkillSteps also emphasizes adult judgment for the kinds of practice that involve real-world safety. The policy sets out both technical boundaries and practical responsibilities.
The application uses Android app-private storage to help restrict access to records. Device protection still matters, because no mobile storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Screen locks, operating system updates and appropriate security settings are recommended. They are part of keeping local learning records better protected.
Parents and caregivers are expected to supervise appropriate exercises. Road awareness, household objects, personal care and emergency preparedness may especially require direct participation.
Android and Google Play services may operate independently of SkillSteps. Their respective terms and privacy policies apply to those independent services.
The privacy policy may change when app behavior, data handling or legal requirements change. Material changes may also call for updated Google Play disclosures.
